5 months old already… craziness!12.04.11

I seriously can’t believe it’s been a whole month since I last posted about Poppy!

She is now five months old and can do so many more things than she could at four months…

Roll!

She rolled by herself for the first time last Sunday at my parents house. We were all sitting in the lounge room egging her on while she attempted it several times on the rug. When she finally hauled herself over to her tummy we all cheered and clapped. This freaked her out a bit and so she quickly spun her head around to each family member to check we were actually happy, not angry! Or was it to get individual praise? Very funny. And cute.

Poor little thing has had sore gums, possibly teething. I am still fully breastfeeding and don’t want to introduce solids just yet but do want her to start building up a good palate so I have started letting her suck various fruits and veggies. I think it’s called baby-led weaning? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Anyway, I chill them first as it seems to be soothing for her. So far she has absolutely loved pear chunks, carrot sticks and cucumber slices. Definite no-no’s were green capsicum and banana (weird, I thought babies liked banana?).

Pear is her favourite by a long shot and she greedily grabs my hands and pushes them into her mouth while sucking furiously. It’s hilarious. I’m tempted to post a video but then she’ll probably hate me when she’s a teenager. Let’s see how long I can hold out.

Grab!

She is now very interested in her feet. I read somewhere that you should put brightly coloured socks on them at this age so that they are attracted to grabbing their feet because it helps them get rolling. My neighbour gave me some cute little puppet socks (like finger puppets, but for feet) that I will try on her this week and see if she likes them.

She still loves inspecting all different types of fabrics which now includes grabbing my hair. Serves me right as it’s usually while I’m blowing raspberries on her belly!
